Garland is just a short eight scenic miles Southeast of Bee, and roughly 30 miles Northwest of Lincoln; it hosts a park, American Legion Post 369, and not one but two bars / restaurants to enjoy. The Outlaw Steakhouse and Saloon and the Corner Bar are both located on 4th Street in central Garland - you can check them out on Facebook for more information. Those enjoying a scenic drive will also want to follow the signs North and Northeast of Garland on the Ride the Ridge Road - a route that makes it way through part of the "Bohemian Alps" of Nebraska. For those looking to try some local wines, Junto Winery (www.juntowine.com) is located only seven miles South of Garland.
Dwight, Nebraska
Located just eight miles North of Bee in Butler County, Dwight is known for being a hub of traditional Czech culture and activities. Visit Cy's Cafe for home-cooked Czech dishes - the Omaha World Herald featured an article about Cy's in January 2017. Dwight is also home to American Legion Post 110 and Assumption Catholic Church, which features a beautiful grotto. Perhaps one of the largest events in Dwight is the annual Czech Festival held over three days every July; this festival includes pork dinners, road rallies, Czech dancers, live polka, sand volleyball tournaments, and a parade - see the Nebraska Czechs website for more information.
